Elster EK 280
Elster's EK280 is a compact, battery-powered volume converter that can be connected to gas meters from Elster or other manufacturers. As an alternative to recording the flow proportional pulses for the operating volume (LF or HF), the EK280 can also read the original meter readings via a gas meter's Absolute Encoder. The volume converter calculates the conversion factor and compressibility factor based on consumption data and analog measurements of gas temperature and pressure. Volumes and volume flows under base and metering conditions are calculated from these data.
The EK280 consists of a base unit with an integrated or external pressure sensor and a temperature sensor permanently coupled to the unit. The compressibility factor can be programmed as a constant for all gases or calculated by various methods. Optionally, a 2G or 4G modem can be integrated directly into the volume converter for data communication.
In addition, additional sensors and status signals can be connected for station monitoring. Data transfer to a SCADA system or remote control can be done independently of data transfer to a billing system.
